Memory and territory: an audiovisual record of the Renato Russo Cultural Space

Abstract

The pioneering spirit of the Renato Russo Cultural Space (ECRR), Brasília’s first cultural center, constitutes a legacy marked by “creative insistence,” episodes of operational interruptions, and the construction of a collective imaginary that consecrates it as a symbol of art and culture in the Federal District. This article aims to present the theoretical and methodological foundations that underpinned the analysis of this symbolic recognition of the ECRR and its impact on the creative scene of the capital. Based on the concepts of design humanism, urban imaginaries, and experi-ence, an interdisciplinary methodological approach was adopted with three focuses: semi-structured interviews; exploratory bibliographic research; and cartographic research. As an unfolding of the study, a documentary entitled Fruits of Memory was produced, which brings together narratives of affection through accounts of frequent visitors, highlighting the importance of the location as a creative territory of artistic, cultural and social convergence.

Author Biographies

Laura Fugita, Universidade Católica de Brasília

Master's student in Innovation in Communication and Creative Economy at the Catholic University of Brasília (UCB). Bachelor's degree in Visual Design from the same university. Junior mentor in the ICT in Trails project at UCB, coordinated by Softex and supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. She was a scientific initiation scholarship holder in the Panorama of the Creative Economy in the Federal District project, funded by the Foundation for Research Support of the Federal District (FAPDF). She was president of the UCB's junior Visual Design company, Cajuí Collab, and a design intern at the Attorney General's Office of the National Treasury (PGFN).

Leandro Bessa, Universidade Católica de Brasília

Professor in the Professional Master's Program in Innovation in Communication and Creative Economy at the Catholic University of Brasília (UCB). PhD in Communication and Society from the University of Brasília (UnB), Master's degree in Communication from the same institution, specialist in Creative Processes and Products from the Federal University of Goiás, and in Philosophy of Art from the Institute of Philosophy and Theology of Goiás with accreditation from the State University of Goiás, and Bachelor's degree in Social Communication - Advertising and Public Relations from Faculdade Cambury (GO).
